Calling All Music Lovers

Office Roles

When discussing working in radio, many people think of presenting shows, but there are numerous roles involved in running a station.

Whether you are interested in presenting your own show or working behind the scenes, we have a position for you. If you are looking to occupy your spare time or gain practical experience for future employment, consider joining Daz In The Hat Radio. This opportunity allows you to build up experience, with references provided as needed.

All positions remote. Training given if needed. References available when/if applying for paid positions. All volunteers receive a station email address

Equipment Required

  • Computer/Laptop

  • Reliable Internet Connection

  • Software/Apps provided if required

* We are particularly interested in those wishing to host: Blues, Rock, Jazz, World Music, Hip Hop, Reggae, House

Presenters

  • · Develop and produce your own shows – 1 or 2 hours long, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly

  • · Shows should contain musical content and should not promote hate speech or discrimination

  • · Play the music you enjoy*

  • · Access music by independent, unsigned artists worldwide

  • · Retain copyright to your own shows

  • · Gain references

  • Have Their Own Profile Page

Equipment Required

  • · Computer/Laptop (not a tablet or smartphone)

  • · Podcasting Microphone – prices start from £20 and above

  • · Software – Audacity is free and compatible with all platforms; other options are available at various price points, some costing several hundred pounds

  • · Quiet Area for Recording

  • · Music – digital format is preferred

  • · Internet Access

Admin/IT Assistant

  • · Manage general email correspondence

  • · Compose and distribute the monthly newsletter

  • · Maintain and update websites

  • · Proofread, edit, and summarise Director and Station meetings

Music Submission Assistant

  • Review and acknowledge digital tracks and albums received by the station.

  • Distribute them among presenters accordingly.

Scheduling/Audio Editing Assistant

  • Manage station schedule

  • Edit shows as received

  • Upload and schedule on platform

Social Media Assistant

  • Manage social media accounts.

  • Promote the station and shows.

  • Share relevant posts.

Financial Assistant

  • Manage accounts, including income, expenditure, and receipts.

  • Conduct research on potential donors and complete application forms.
