Introduction
About Us
Welcome to Daz In The Hat, a vibrant cornerstone of the Yorkshire music scene with a legacy rooted in passion, community, and the celebration of musical talent. Our journey began in the lively open mic nights of Bradford and Leeds, where Daz, the heart and soul behind the brand, nurtured grassroots talent and fostered a sense of camaraderie among local musicians. From these humble beginnings, Daz In The Hat evolved into a dynamic force, with Daz taking on roles as a presenter and booking agent, seamlessly connecting venues, singers, and bands across Yorkshire. Known for an unwavering commitment to the local music community, Daz has also organized and hosted a series of electrifying live music events, raising funds for local charities and amplifying the region’s cultural heartbeat.
In 2023, Daz In The Hat took a bold leap forward with the launch of Daz In The Hat Radio, a platform dedicated to showcasing musical talent from around the globe. By 2024, the station transformed into a Community Interest Company (CIC), a milestone that reflects our mission to create meaningful opportunities for aspiring music industry professionals. As a CIC, we provide a welcoming space for volunteers and those seeking hands-on experience, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to pursue careers in the industry. Whether it’s learning the ropes of radio production or engaging with artists, we’re here to empower the next generation of creatives.
At the core of Daz In The Hat Radio is our passion for championing independent and unsigned artists, giving them a platform to shine and connect with a broader audience. We believe in the power of music to inspire, unite, and surprise, which is why our airwaves are filled with a vibrant mix of sounds—from chart-topping hits to hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Our mission encapsulates this spirit: Bringing you Music You Know & Love Alongside Music You Don’t Know & Will Love.
A key element of our operations is our PRS (Performing Rights Service) license, funded by Green Eyed Records, founded by our dedicated co-director, Nick Cody. The PRS license, issued by PRS for Music in the UK, ensures that songwriters, composers, and publishers are fairly compensated when their music is played on our station. This license allows our global team of presenters, based in locations from Yorkshire to far-flung corners of the world, to legally broadcast a diverse range of music, spanning genres, eras, and artists—from household names to emerging talents. It’s a cornerstone of our commitment to supporting the music ecosystem while delivering an unparalleled listening experience to our audience.
With a blend of enthusiasm, expertise, and a deep love for music, Daz In The Hat Radio is more than just a station—it’s a community, a movement, and a celebration of the sounds that shape our lives. Join us on this musical journey and discover the artists you’ll love next.

Satnam Galsian is a Leeds-based British Asian folk singer. With a degree in Indian Classical Music from Birmingham Conservatoire, she collaborates with artists to explore the interplay of North Indian and Western music traditions. Her versatility shines in her work with Kinaara, a band that has released two EPs: Across The River (2021) and Colours In Black (2022).
Satnam was awarded the EFDSS Alan James Creative Bursary 2023 in collaboration with fellow Leeds artist Maddie Morris to research and explore gender-based violence in Punjabi and English Folk songs. She was a recipient of the Opera North Resonance Residency 2024 for a project challenging preconceived notions about women’s roles in Punjabi folklore through a feminist retelling of Mirza-Sahiban, a tragic love story from the Indian subcontinent. Satnam released her debut EP, Fragmented Truth, in July. Sahiban was released on 4th October 2024.
Along with performing in both a solo and collaborative capacity, she delivers music and wellbeing workshops in schools and community venues.

I have always had a love of music since an early age and used to bunk off school at the age of 14 to attend free Hyde Park concerts. It's only in later life that I began to write and record under the persona Nick Cody and to date through my first three ensembles, “The Small Change Diaries”, “Nick Cody & The Caravan of Dreams”, and more recently “Nick Cody and the Heartache.”
I have released found albums and one EP of original material to date. I have adopted what my producer calls “The Steely Dan model” for ensembles, where I have a tremendous pool of great musicians on hand who both play live and work on tracks. These include Michael Ross from Nashville, Laurent Zeller from France, as well as UK musicians, including Rich Ferdi, who has played percussion on all my material, and Fergus Quill, a bass played cited as one of the UK’s up-and-coming most promising jazz musicians and of course, Grace Fellows aka Towse who is from California.
I set up Green Eyed Records to promote "creativity through collaboration" and run live showcases annually for established and new artists.

Music has always been a big passion for me, although I can't play or sing for toffee... should I break into a tune I'd immediately empty a venue! I kid you not! Just the threat of a song from myself fills those that know me with terror! However, I can recognise a talented artist & great music.
I first got involved in the independent music scene after attending open mic nights & gigs following my return to West Yorkshire from Scotland in 2009. Following this & I became to realise many extremely talented artists performing on local music scenes rarely got heard outside their area. Once I joined local radio I decided this was something I was going try & change, be it in my small way.
Since presenting my first show in 2016 I feel very privileged to have built up a reputation among artists & listeners alike for supporting & giving airtime to independent, unsigned singers & bands around the world.
With suffering from a chronic health condition which excludes me from paid employment, in September 2023 I launched Daz In The Hat Radio as a not for profit internet radio station in its own right. While running the station can be time consuming, with support of volunteers it can be easily managed to fit around my condition.
As well as presenting shows I am also delighted to be involved with two amazing projects:
Music For The Head & Heart Which Promotes The Best In Music Across A Wide Range Of Genres - To Inspire, Povoke & Entertain
Green Eyed Records (GER) - a music resource & platform that empowers artists by assisting them to develop their own creative voice.
I have also organised & hosted a number of live music events to raise funds for local charities in conjunction with WSO - We Shall Overcome
